Consumer desktop CPUs from AMD’s Ryzen 7000 series have unveiled the newest PC gaming technology. The new CPUs significantly outperform AMD Ryzen 5000, the manufacturer’s previous line of desktop processors. Based on the new AM5 platform and Zen 4 architecture from the firm, the new Ryzen 7000 series features up to 16 cores. It will significantly boost performance because it is the first to support DDR5 and PCIe Gen 5 standards out of the box. Integrated Radeon Graphics with two cores, a 2200MHz clock speed, and a 400MHz base frequency are included with the new processors.
The Ryzen 9 7950X, the most formidable model in the series, is joined by the Ryzen 9 7900X, Ryzen 7 7700X, and Ryzen 5 7600X. The new Ryzen 7000 series processors have a comparable number of cores and threads to the Ryzen 5000 series, but because they support stronger technologies, the performance of the former is noticeably greater.
The newest AMD Ryzen 7000 series
The top-end AMD Ryzen 9 7950X has a boost clock speed of 5.7GHz and a base frequency of 4.2GHz. It can handle high-end games without experiencing any difficulty thanks to its 16 cores and 32 threads. With a TDP of 170W and a total cache capacity of 80MB, it is both powerful and energy-efficient. Priced at $699, the Ryzen 7950X is $100 less expensive than the Ryzen 5950X was when it was first introduced.
The Ryzen 9 7900X, which comes with 12 cores and 24 threads and has a base clock speed of 4.7GHz and a boost clock speed of 5.6GHz, is next in line. It operates with a TDP of 170W and consumes 76MB of cache memory. It is priced at $549, which is the same as the Ryzen 5900X’s launch pricing. The third option is the Ryzen 7 7700X, which has a TDP of 105W, 40MB of cache, 8 cores, 16 threads, a boost frequency of 5.4GHz, a base clock of 4.5GHz, and a boost rate of 4.4GHz. It costs $399, which is $50 less than the Ryzen 5800X’s launch pricing.
The Ryzen 5 7600X is the final one and is comparatively the least powerful. It only has 6 cores and supports 12 threads while having a 105W TDP. It features a base frequency of 4.7GHz and a boost clock speed of up to 5.3GHz. The Ryzen 5 7600X is available for $299, which is the same price as the 5600X’s first release.
AM5 platform by AMD
The new AM5 platform, which alters how chips are put on the motherboard, is the most significant modification. The Ryzen 7000 series opts for a 1718-pin LGA socket in place of the previous socket types. According to the manufacturer, the new socket design supports DDR5 and PCIe 5.0 and can provide up to 230W of socket power to the CPU. Despite having the redesigned design, the AM5 platform is still compatible with AM4 CPU coolers, giving those who build their own PCs some flexibility. However, none of the Ryzen 7000 CPUs are shipped with a cooler.
